Sync Edit Function
I am curious to see if there a sync edit function similar to other edit systems i have used.
Scenario:
Say I have a baseball hit with no audio in my timeline.I also have some clean audio of a baseball hit and I would like to sync up the audio of the baseball hit in my source to the exact frame that the ball makes contact in the timeline.
Is there a one button feature where I can set my playhead on the frame of bat contact in my timeline and the bat crack frame in my source audio so that they will automatically sync and fill in within the timeline around the playhead?
Please let me know if this makes sense. I am using CS6.

I’ve used iQ a bunch so I do know what you’re talking about. It’s a pretty neat thing but AFAIK it’s not available in Premiere.

Ok yea I work primarily with Quantel and that feature is great. A lot of the shortcuts are labeled differently in premiere and I wanted to see if I was missing something.

I’ll try to explain this to the folks that probably still don’t know what we’re talking about.
Let’s say I’m making a tough online edit and I need to manually edit and sync some shots in. The best sync point I find in the timeline clip is in the middle of it and then I’ll search the same frame in the source clip. Then when I make the sync edit the edit goes from the playhead (that’s parked in the center of the clip) to both directions stopping at the clip’s in and out point “filling” the clip with the source footage.

Does this do what you want?
Position the playhead in the source monitor.
Position the playhead in the Timeline.
Select the clip in the Timeline.Go to Clip>Replace With Clip>From Source Monitor, Match Frame

Or just press M on each clip to set a Marker. Then align by snapping markers together in sequence…

I’m actually fairly new to Premiere Pro. I just did it in a tutorial recently.

That sounds like it would work but what if I am selecting a blank area on the timeline to replace with my audio? The Replace With Clip option is greyed out if that is the case. Is there any way around that?
