sync drift, pulldown, FCP and 16mm telecine
i’m working in FCP on a project that combines XDCAM and 16mm material.
i just got back my first two rolls of 16mm telecined to ProRes from the lab. the telecine framerate seems to be 23.98. The sync is drifting badly when i try to sync up the roll of film (it’s one lone 11 minute 400 foot take). I presume this is because the film is now 23.98 instead of 24fps? So what am I supposed to do to fix this? Did the lab do something wrong? They didn’t ask me anything about framerate and what I wanted, but I assumed they knew the standard way of doing this. Or is there something I am supposed to do to change the playback rate of the audio to match? What exactly should I do and how?
Also, will it be a big problem later down the line to combine this material with 30P material in one timeline?
Please help and advise — this is a new workflow for me, and I am not sure how to set this up so that things run in sync. thanks!
