Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy sync audio fcp

recently did a registration with multiple camera’s ( all 25 fps) of a concert.

one layer is 16bit integer at 48,0 khz the other audio is captured in 32 bit floating point. syncing those two is no a problem but this was just captured with a regular mic, because i would get the final mix later

but when i got the final mix.. and wanting to sync it with the video
the first 30 seconds are synced fine but then you hear and see that the final mix is about half a second (12 frames) faster… can not get it in sync. maybe this is allready posted somewhere but can not find it.. does someone know how to fix this?

I’m having a similar problem. I just did some searching and found this:

But, as you can see, no one provided a solution. I have a 5 minute project that I edited in FCP and exported and mixed the sound in Ableton Live 8. When I exported the final mix out of Ableton and imported it back into FCP, it’s the same problem. The first 30 secs or so is fine, and then you start to notice a little drift. By the end of the video the drift is really apparent.

A couple of things. Files in FCP should only be 16 or 24 bit and 48khz. Firstly make sure that is the case. Also only use PCM, not mp3s or aac.

There is a known issue in FCP importing files that then drift out of sync. This tutorial answers the question of why this may occur (second half, with instructions on how to best import assets that will not drift),

micheal and sam thanks for your response, and taking the time to answer

i’ve checked the xml tutorial but that did not do the job for me. in all my frustration i started playing with the khz and for some reason allthough my camera audio is 48000 and my final mix is also 48000 it seems to work for me that i have changed to 44100 and 16 bit instead of 32 bit and 48000,strange..

i have no idea why it worked but it did.. thanks
