you have a very old TBS24 which is a frame synchronizer with noise reduction. You will not make your old VO 9600 3/4″ tapes look any better than straight playback. If all you want to do is a straight dub, take the video out of your VO 9600 and go into any modern frame synchronizer (anything from a Data Video TBC1000 to an AJA FS1) and take the video out into your DVD recorder. This will not be as good as an old BVU-800 into a BVT-800 TBC, but none of that equipment exists anymore, and if you can even find it – it’s probably in very bad shape.

    I see.. 🙁

Too bad because my 9600 is still in excellent condition with good picture anyway..
But yes,i’m looking for the (pro) quality !
So, now i’m searching to buy a bvu-950,from your words must have better quality, right ??
Also is more tbc friendly, right ?

Where can i find a sync guide for novice ?
I need to understand this part !

    Thanks for your answers !

    We have a Sony VO9600 U-matic connected to a For.A FA300 TBC/sycroniser.
We have composite from the VTR connected to the input of the TBC and we have the ‘RF’ from the VTR connected to the DOC of the TBC. The RF/DOC connection is for ‘drop out compensation’.
We then have the videp output of the TBC and the audio output of the VTR connected to a BMD analog to SDI converter which is connected to a BMD router along with the VTR’s RS422 deck control.
All in all it makes for some good quality transfers considering it starts as ‘composite’ video.

    Eddie –
don’t learn too much about 3/4″. It is a dead format.
Do the best you can to get your 3/4″ media off to another format, and throw away the 3/4″ VTR. No one uses this format anymore, and no “modern” VTR uses external TBC’s (and almost no one is using VTR’s anymore – period !).

The BVU-950 had an “option” board with an internal TBC built into the VTR. Most BVU-950’s had this.

    He he 🙂
Yes Bob you’re right, but i’m an (old) video clip collector
and many good rare original stuff you can still found on u-matic format.
    That’s why i decide to go with a u-matic..

    Thanks for help !

Do you know how many hours can play an bvu-950 head before die ?
I would like to know because i wanna buy one like i said.

    Hello

I have kept a thread about the use of TBC to U-matic

I’m in the process of ingeste material from a BVU850 pal machine. I have read a lot about TBC . I’ve looked at a Micro Time FT220 .

My question is regarding . BNC SC . At FT220 , there is no SC out BNC . Have looked at BVT810p and has SC out . Is it better to buy a BVT810p instead of FT220

Micro Time also has Component signal out

    Is the following setup properly.

    BVU850p / TBC Microtime FT220

1 vtr video out to tbc video in ( Composite or YC 924 Pal )
2 tbc adv.sync out to ext sync in vtr ( BVU set to ext ref)
3 tbc doc out to vtr RF off tape in
4 TBC in ref (Black Burst Generator )

    BVU850p / BVT810p

1 vtr video out to tbc video in ( Composite or YC 924 )
2 TBC Adv . Sync out to ext sync in vtr ( BVU set to ext . Sync in)
3 tbc doc out to RF off tape in vtr
4 tbc SC out to SC in vtr
5 tbc ext ref in ( Black Burst Generator )

BVT810p the SC out and Mirotime FT220 has not SC out .

Do I need SC signal in the dub from u matic for Avid Liquid
