Symbol Spray in Photoshop
In Photoshop, I need the ‘symbol spray’ functionality that Illustrator offers:
Quickly create lots of copies of a single graphic – say, a full-colour tree to create a forest.
In Photoshop it seems you can only do this by creating lots of layers, and manipulating them one by one. Brushes and Patterns don’t cut it, either!
Any ideas – action programming or a cool plug-in???
I’m on Photoshop 7, but have also tried CS1 and CS2.

The best way I know to acheive this is to make a selection out of the item you want to duplicate, (command click on the layer) hold down the command and option key and drag the art. This will make a copy of the art on the same layer. The new art will remain in the selection and you can repeat the process until you have all the copies you want

(Again, I’m on Photoshop 7) – How do I make my presets (brush & tool) stick?
The brush and other menus revert back to default on every restart!
The power of the presets is obscured by the low quality of the default sets. I guess a lot of people don’t get around to changing them, or change them once and get frustrated when the changes are wiped out – a pity.
