Sword Swipe effect
Wondering if anybody has any pointers on how I might best achieve a sword swiping effect shown in this example? I have a shape layer of a sword i’d love to put an effect like this behind.

Your example is classic animation – several drawings of the sword and swipe, a couple of frames of each most likely with a crossfade in between.
That being said you could animate shape layers, have particle “light streaks” using Particular, or use the time effects and motion blur.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

Could also try the “Echo” effect with some creative tweaking. I’ve used that several times to get a “swipe” look on motion.
