  • Switching Source Media to Reference-Movie by Relinking

I wondered why this doesn’t work: I am using ProRes422 media in an FCP project. I made some changes to the source media, exported it as a reference movie in FCP, and tried to relink from the self-contained original to the new reference movie. But FCP states that the media i try to relink to has different start and end points (the length of the two movies is exactly the same) and that the tape isn’t the same. Why is that? And is there a workaround or something? Is it possible to force FCP to relink?

    Thanks for any advice,

    Peter

    Hi Kevin,

I did not make any speed changes, but your question made me check the length again and I found the solution for my problem: The length of both clips was the same but since I imported the media in FCP and exported it from there, the timecode changed. The reference movie started at 01:00:00:00 (according to the FCP default). Setting this to 00:00:00:00 and exporting it again solved the issue.

    Thanks a lot,

    Peter
