  • Switching… FCP to PP – Project Manager

    Hey everyone,

I’ve been toying with Premiere Pro for a bit now and I was wondering about the Project Manager. One problem that I have encountered on occasion with Final Cut is the way FCP’s Media Manager backs up audio that has been sent to Soundtrack Pro. I’ve been bitten a handful of times where the files that it connects with were never copied. The .STP is there, but the audio it was looking at wasn’t.

So I was just wondering if anyone has seen similar issues with Premiere’s Project Manager when sending audio to Audition.

Typically the issue with PPro’s project manager will be that it knows what media is used in the project…but any outside projects that created media…like AE and Audition, need to be gathered by hand for archive.

    Hi John –

You definitely want to have a look at Adobe Bridge, the powerful file management tool which comes with the various Adobe suites. If you take a look here:

    https://magazine.creativecow.net/article/managing-broadcast-assets-with-adobe-bridge

you’ll find an article I wrote for the latest issue of Creative Cow Magazine, which goes into a fair amount of depth on the power of Bridge, and how to best harness it.
