  • Switching between Alpa/Alpha Inverted with checkbox

Posted by Igor Stikic on December 19, 2012 at 11:21 am

I want to control with Main comp/Null layer (checkbox) other Comps layers Alpha matte (8 comp/8 layers}. If is Check to be Alpha, and if is unCheck to be Alpha inverted.
    Is it possible?

    Thanx in advance

Not exactly- at least I do not now how to do it the way you describe, but here’s an alternative:
Add a Expression Control/SliderControl to your Null layer and lock the Effect Control panel. Open your Precomp and add Effect/Channel/Invert to the layer with Alpha. Link the “Blend With Original” control with the Slider Control. Now you can control the Alpha – at 100% you will get the layers alpha and at 0% the inverted alpha.

    Hope this helps.

You can use Set Matte Effect for this function.

Instead of track matte, use set matte effect for each layer and then parent the Invert Matte checkbox to a controller’s Checkbox.

    Here is an example:

But I would suggest you to read about Set Matte Effect first.
