March 24, 2009 at 1:06 pmI think you just want to hit the tilda “~” key to the left of the numbers on your keyboard.

March 24, 2009 at 1:08 pmHi Gabriel,
You need to hit the tilde key (~), with your cursor over the panel you want to maximise.
If you’re not using a US keyboard, you might want to check out my quick tutorial, below.

March 24, 2009 at 1:39 pmWell I´m in Bra$il and brazilian keyboards do not have that ability. We do have (and have to use often on writing) all the ´ ` ^ ~ signs but the keys seem to work in a different way.
The key close to the 1 actually brings up the safe frame. I tried all kinds of shifts and controls and alts but never sucessed.
What I can do is press CTRL+SHIFT and that changes to US keyboard so I can press that infamous tilde key by the side of number 1. Than I press it again to go back to portugueseBR kb. But sometimes it can make a terrible mess on your brain.
Does anybody have a better solution?
I wold love to have the shortcut avaliable. I love shortcuts and I hate activating things with my mouse.
Thanx Gabriel for bringing the issue up and sorry for not helping!
Cheers.

March 25, 2009 at 3:18 pmWell here is the cure.
For people like me living in Germany (and I think Gabriel does too by judging the name, sorry) all this solutions don’t work, except changing to english keyboard settings by pressing ALT+SHIFT.
But you can do the following:
on Windows Vista go the the following folder:
C:UsersYourUsernameAppDataRoamingAdobeAfter Effects9.0 (8.0 respectively)on Windows XP here:
C:Documents and SettingsYourUsernameAnwendungsdatenAdobeAfter Effects9.0Open the “Adobe After Effects 9.0 Shortcuts.txt” and search for “ToggleTabPanelMaximize”. Then change it to the button you want.
If you are like me using the English User Interface but on a German machine open AE once in english as well as in german language then go the folder described above and rename the “Adobe After Effects 9.0 Tastaturbelegung.txt” (or something like that) to “Adobe After Effects 9.0 Shortcuts.txt” and then you got the German shortcuts on a German keyboard in an English AE interface. Then just use the “ü” button for maximizing frames.
I hope it helps
Cheers

August 13, 2009 at 8:17 pmWhich was most successful was simon…, For example in the Spanish keyboard in the key to this side of 1 is not the tilde, Then you got to look to the side of the p, Where the next tick ( `). If not found, Besides that there are two other signs on the same key: (^) And ([)…
Espero que te sirva, At least that works with my keyboard and I have just discovered.

March 4, 2012 at 5:37 pmCheck the box in the preview panel that says full screen and then click on the ram preview arrow in the preview panel you are in and the screen will change to true full screen previews, unlike the tilde which opens the panel to full size but not quite full screen.
