Trying to import .SWF into 8. I get an error while trying to open it in the project media window.

I’ve searched the forums and I have found conflicting advice.

    https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/24/886341

That links to John Rofrano’s site, where he explains SwishMax. John says there that Vegas 5+ can handle SWF.

Do I just need to follow the advice on exporting as a Flash 5 or a PNG movie?

I’m working with someone who is building a graphic open. I’m not sure what version she uses to create the flash content, but I’m betting it’s up to date.

    Thanks!

P.S. Found one more. John says on another post: “No, Vegas Pro cannot open Adobe Illustrator files. It can work with certain Flash SWF file formats (the older Macromedia formats).” Is this the final word?

I’m afraid so. Vegas supports Macromedia Flash not Adobe Flash so whatever version of Flash it was when Macromedia owned the company, that’s the version you need to use.

    Thanks John.

Any indication Sony may support Adobe Flash in 10 or later releases?

LOL… let’s see… Adobe has owned Flash for several years and several versions of Vegas have passed and Sony hasn’t included support… that indicates to me the answer is probably… no. 🙁

Just export from Flash using the Quicktime Animation codec and drop it in Vegas. Problem solved.
