SWF file too big

Hi Guys,

This is my first post here and if this topic been discussed before i apologise. I have created a flash intro in adobe after using the 3d camera stuff. but the problem now is when I import it to flash the size is huge like 4 mb. The intro is like 20 seconds only and I never expected it to be so big. Is there anyway to compress the movie to around 1.5 MB like that? I am pretty new to after effects and not really sure about the what setting is the best for web stuff. Anyone who can help me I would really appreaciate it.

Are you using the On2 VP6 codec? It’s good quality and usually smaller than the standard flash codec. VP6 comes with Flash 8.

I generally use Sorenson Squeeze, a program for compressing video while keeping the quality good. It can compress video better than you host application (like Flash or After Effects) could ever do. And you can specify/constrain the size of th final file.

Thanks for your reply I am going to check out the site but its seems the server is busy but will check it out soon. I noticed a lot of professional business companies are using different software tools to create flash intros nowadays which is really great an example is

I guess most of them were done in after effects and bought back in flash. One of the reason why I want to learn after effects now.

You should not use the SWF export in AE. It is based on the old Flash 5/6 formats and will more or less rasterize every frame and embed it as a JPEG or PNG. Like Aharon said, fopr more efficient compression create an FLV and import it into Flash.

I just figured that out last night and it works great! from 4 mb its not 1 MB just nice I cant to finish my project soon.

It’s being exported from Camtasia Studio in flash 8 format.
