  • Sweep NURBS growth??

Posted by Jon Herron on March 1, 2006 at 2:20 am

    Hey guys,

Im sweeping a rectangle shape spline along another circle spline with sweep nurbs. I animate the growth and makes the shape. Is there a way to animate it again from the first point to take the shape away?

If you want to sweep along the entire spline then make it all go away from the first point then (in a 91 frame example)
    Frame 0
    -sweep nurb Growth = 0%
-spline (needs to be editable) Reverse unchecked – add keyframe

    Frame 45
    -sweep nurb Growth = 100%

    Frame 46
-spline Reverse checked – add keyframe

    Frame 90
    -sweep nurb Growth = 0%

If you want to have the end follow at some distance behind the beginning it can’t be done without other plugins or cutting the tail off with a boolean (slower as the boolean gets longer) unless I’m forgetting something easy. It’s been a common question here check out the archives.

Is there any way to taper the ends of the sweep other than the scale? I would love for the beginning to start as a small taper then scale up as it sweeps. But with the it will only taper the end. The scale is set to 0%

i seriously think Maxon should have built this into version 9.5 by now. haven’t enough people asked for this? why haven’t they given the option to do this yet??? if you can grow along a path, why can’t you subtract? shouldn’t have to be some crazy boolean thing that takes double the geometry. anyone know of a good plug in that achieves this well at the moment?

    jslicer

Damn so I guess not, not even a “taper” at both ends? I know of Pathdeformer. I only have The Lite version, but i think it only alows an object to move along a path, etc. Let’me know if you find something also jslicer.

yes, you can taper at both ends by using a Rail Spline
