I have a scene shot in HD on a Canon XHA1 and being edited in Sony Vegas.

There’s a close up of a man’s face. He doesn’t move much and is drinking coffee.

But… he is perfectly dry whereas, in fact, he should be covered in sweat! (He’s just been working out.)

Is there any kind of effect which I can use to achieve this. I’ve tried all sorts of stuff but nothing works.

    Any suggestions appreciated!

Is there a reason that you can’t get the guy and re-do that shot?
The alternative is to “paint” the sweat on him one frame at a time and I don’t think you want to do that.

I wish I could but it was filmed in another country and it’s just not possible.

Not knowing how facially revealing the other shots were, how about another guy who looks similar?

This is the image; and there are similar close ups where the cam moves round.

It’s going to be hard if not impossible to double him.

Creating such a task in vegas is not really possible….you can
try Mike’s suggestion or try by hunting online to get a
condensation footage (with an alpha channel or green screen)and then
composite it over his face or If you have After Effects, use it…As you can see, tasks that seems simple are not simple at all….and here is where you put your creativity to the test Sean.

That’s an interesting idea. I might try that – compositing it over. It’s worth a try anyway.

Shoot a cover-up shot of a man reaching for a towel and vigorously drying his face, all the while covering his identity. When you transition to the talking head piece he now has a reason for a dry face.

Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.

Hmmm. I spent several hours last night playing with composites and although there were some interesting effects it looked like it would take a *lot* more work to get it looking decently sweaty.

So along comes Bill’s idea and I’m thinking – why didn’t I think of that? 🙂
