    Hi,

I’ve got a large project for which we’d like to share a set of swatches between photoshop and illustrator. I’m trying to use the feature “Save swatches for exchange” from the swatch palette, and PS is returning the error “Could not save the swatches because a color was specified using an unsupported color space”. Anyone seen this before?

    Thanks,

    Matt

    hi Matt,
yes that’s indeed a strange error. Especially since CS2 and up should support the (.ase) exchange format for swatches. I don’ know if it helps, but it might be worth a shot.

First delete the PS preferences on start-up: Click and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS).

Then open your document with the swatches in PS. Go to EDIT>PRESET MANAGER. Choose SWATCHES from the pull down menu. Then”control” or “shift” click the swatches you want to save, and on the little fly out menu (the little triangle) choose SAVE SWATCHES FOR EXCHANGE. Make shure the extension”.ase” is appended to the name of the swatch set.
    hope that helps,
    cheers,
    Adi
