  • swapping audio channels?

I have a sequence with a bunch of clips that feature just audio channel 1 as the main source. The original raw clips have mono channels 1 & 2 asociated with them. And now the problem! I would like to now use channel 2 instead of 1 but I have already deleted channel 2 from the timeline. Is there an easy way to retreave channel 2 for each clip and bring it back into the timeline for each clop other than manually matching the time code and dragging the audio channel back in to replace channel 1?

    Thought I’d ask

Perform a Match Frame on the first frame of a clip in the Canvas so it opens in the Viewer. Then replace the shot only mapping the audio to where you want it to go…

You can use Match Frame to shortcut the process but, AFAIK, you’re stuck with a long and tedious job.

Strongly urge you to make one or two duplicates of your sequence before you start messing with it.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

It’s a pretty quick and easy job really. A few seconds. Set up your sequence to patch the audio to the correct track. Make a new empty audio track if you have to. If all your old audio is on the same track it’s really easy. Make that track the only available autosync track.

Once you’ve set those couple things, put the playhead at the start of the first clip. Press F. Press F10 to overwrite. Then press the down arrow until you’re at the head of the next clip. Press F. Press F10 to overwrite. And so on.

If all the audio if on the same track, you can get into a little rhythm and do the whole thing in a matter of seconds.
