  • Swap still images while keeping transitions and effects

I’ve pieced together a “concept” video of low-resolution still images while the customer was obtaining the hi-res versions. Is there any way to swap out the low-res images with the new hi-res ones, while keeping the transitions and effects that I’ve already put in? Thanks.

The quickest way I’ve found is to (not fun) go to each clip, select, copy, mark i to o,
overwrite, then paste attributes to get filters and settings back. What that does
not help with is transitions- there’s no way currently to keep them. What I usually
do is to actually edit the new clip on a track higher than the originals, that way
I have a ‘guide’ track below to help me replace/realign transitions. Please place
a feature request with Adobe for a ‘replace’ feature to do what you ask. That’s high
on my personal list of WIBNI’s!

Thanks, Troy. I tried your method as I had forgotten you can copy and paste attributes.

I also just found another trick and it seems to work perfectly for what I want to do. If you simply copy (in Windows) the new image file with the exact same filename overtop of the old file, PP2 will automagically reread the new file and replace it in the timeline with all attributes, transitions and length the same as the old image.

Give that a shot and let me know if it works for you.
