  • Swap Content on the Timeline?

Posted by Sam Swenson on October 1, 2007 at 1:55 pm

I am producing a project that I’d like to set up as a project template.

What is the most efficient way to set it up so I could swap content out to produce a separate version from the same template?

Some assets on the timeline utilize masks and I am looking for a way to not have to re-apply all of the masking/keyframes/effects etc.

Also, is there any way to use XML to control what assets are placed?

Forgive the broad questions 🙂 Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don’t know nothin about XML, but I do know somethin about swappage…

    OK here’s the deal –

In the time line, select the piece of footage you want to swap

In the project panel, select the footage you want to use as the replacement

Begin dragging it down onto the time line, and once you start doing that, hold down the Alt (or option) key.

Making sure you are over the time line (where the names of each footage item in the comp is listed), With the Alt key still held down, let go of the footage (let go of the mouse button)

You will see that your footage has been replaced.
