When Sony came out with the free SVP 10d, I installed it and about half my programs got trashed and would not work. I just installed SVP 11 and the same thing happened. I called in a techie and he found that only the programs installed on my F: drive were affected. Vegas was installed to C:. No other program install has caused this kind of problem. It has taken about a full day to do uninstalls and re-installs and now this morning Vegas is suggesting that I download an update. So far, everyone except my techie is blaiming my machine. (Quad 64bit, Win & Pro, 6 megs ram) Does anyone know how I can protect my F: programs? The re-installs were all sent to C:. I am a long time Vegas user and so far I like the new GUI and features of 11.

Sorry I don’t have an answer but I do have advice. Why do you have programs installed on your F: drive? I use to have my OS on C: and all of my programs on D: and I always had problems with installations and updates. I finally gave up and acknowledged that while Windows allows you to install programs any where you want, you should keep them on the C: drive unless you love debugging. 😉 Just because Windows allows you to do something doesn’t mean that you should (or that it will even work reliably). Not sure if that helps but it is something to consider if your time is valuable to you.

Thanks for the response. I did indeed learn my lesson. Every re-install was to C: and all new stuff will be to C:.
