    Hello again.

well everything says right click header and expand track.

I have Vegas Pro 8 and this does not seem to be an option.

I have looked, clicked, right clicked event, track and cannot find this.
I have tons of audio tracks that are layered and I want to split them up for use in sound editing to video.

Some have drum tracks, or harmonies, or melodies, and I really need to
split the layers so I can adjust each layer in the track.

2 layers show up in time line on a single track so I know Sony sees the layers. So, again how, where is the Expand function?

    Thank you.

Stop looking because it isn’t an option.

Did you import it as a veg file?
If yes, that’s why you’re only seeing a single stereo audio track.
The trick here is to right-click on the timeline and select Edit in Vegas (ProjectName.veg).
This will open a new instance of Vegas that has all the tracks (layers) that exist in the original project file.

    Not not .veg file.

I have either premade scores, tracks I make or import wav (usually)
I think Sony sees it as stereo-see end of post.

They show in timeline the two separate tracks per clip on 1 track line.

there will be a audio track on top half of Vegas track and one on bottom half..I can see both track layers on the 1 track.

Tracks I make I can just record single tracks and add( dont like this idea) but the scores-and precomposed tracks i do not have the original track layers.

But- I did discover that you can right click on the clip, and
turn off half of it- left or right and end with a single layer.

Dont know how this will affect as far as pan- prolly only get left or right channel.ATM my left Audio channel is Broken(connector)

So I guess I got to go the hard way with it.more splice, dice and
    fuss. thanks.

Unless it’s a specialty score where you have the option of breaking it out to individual instrument tracks, then yes, that’s what happens.

    Why not?
In a recording studio, everything is recorded to it’s own independent mono track.
The mix to stereo or 5.1 is the final step in the process.

Unless you have access to independent tracks, the hard way is all you can do 🙁
