sv10 memory glitch or what the hell?
Posted by Paul Beller on April 28, 2013 at 6:14 pmthat is interesting
8 minute music video, 500 media, fast cutting
let’s say media’s name is AAA.
it is perfectly ok when i play it from project media tab – AAA really is AAA. but on the timeline it switched to another media tho the media info says it is AAA.
briefly saying: timeline shows me another media instead of the one i put on it.
when i open the event in the trimmer it shows me different media.
crazy. must be sth about memory. any clues on that people?Paul Beller replied 13 years, 3 months ago 3 Members · 5 Replies -

April 28, 2013 at 7:21 pmthe story continues.
let’s summerize.i have a media in project bin. it is used on the timeline. but when i preview the timeline, i see another media, not the one i put there before.
so i thought: let’s try this- i rename the media and reopen the project hoping that it would open the missing media dialog, i would point to the same media which now would have a new name and vegas will reload the media and get things right.
and you know what? when i do that, sv10 crashes. what else?
when i drag this file from windows explorer to my project, vegas crashes too. BUT when i drag the same media to new, empty project, vegas imports it without a problem. WTF???any solution to that? what the hell? my files are mpeg2 1280×720, 35 mbps in mxf pro container. and there is one more thing which i put into a new thread because it is strange too…

April 28, 2013 at 10:13 pmYou’ve been bitten by the “replace media bug” and sadly there is no known cure for it.
This is a well known problem in Pro 10 and was supposedly cured in Pro 11 although a few users have still reported it happening there as well.To quote Steve Mann from an old post here on the Cow, “There seems to be no commonality or cause to the problem. No one can reliably reproduce the problem. It’s not repeatable or predictable, so it’s going to be pretty difficult to observe in the lab, let alone fix.”
https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/24/953234It’s not much help but Timeline Tools (a free app) has a display filter that shows only those events that have a mismatch between the Take name displayed in the event, and the media file name that was the source of the take.

April 29, 2013 at 3:02 amThat bug is truly difficult to analyze,
Sadly the only solid fix is to upgrade to Vegas 12.Steve Rhoden

April 29, 2013 at 7:16 amAs I remember this might be a second time i get this bug. happily it is not so common. i will make a walk around certainly but it is a pain. thanks so much for the info and for the link to an extension completely new for me. i thought i keep tracking new scripts, extensions and filters but i missed that one. maybe i should ask you pro people for that? do you know any more interesting tools apart from well known commercial filters and extensions from prodad, newblue, vasst, redgiant?
and two: i can’t find a reasonable explanation of my other question. you seem to know a lot in those hidden for me areas, maybe you could help?
https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/24/964316thank you again
