Survey: HVX200 Firmware upgrade in the future? Do you want it?

This thread is not to put blame on the HVX200, Panasonic or to do any flaming of any sort; it’s a Survey for professionals.

It’s obvious the HVX200 is doing a whole ton ” AMAZING ” features in a small size professional HD camera. They have squeezed quite a lot inside.

Anyone who uses software or plays video games knows that you can’t catch all the issues in V 1.0. After a few months, weeks or even days of user feed back they collect the errors and do updates.

Well the HVX200 is software driven. The HVX200 was going through revs 1-2-3 & 4 was less than a month before the street date.

What if there was a 4.01 or 5 rev in a month or so offered to HVX200 owners. If Panasonic was willing to offer a few software upgrades over the next few months as our feed back is posted; would you feel more comfortable about buying the HVX200 today instead of a few months from now or longer?

    That’s the question:

My answer to this Survey is, YES.

If I knew that we could get the SW updates for a short while over time; I would 100% have no problem in putting trust in a HVX200 purchase today. I believe in the camera. I thinks it’s awesome. But you can’t get all the bugs out until it gets a few months in the field as a fully shipping 100% model and professional users start reporting their findings. This is not a basic small size video camera.

It’s a small size Professional HD Camera with a lot of features and functions all interacting inside with one another.

    Michael,

Since you were kind enough to thank me for posting the manual, you could have taken a few minutes to read it. Take a look at page 125. The camera does have this ability.

    Thanks,

I need to go in for my firmware update to get my Speed Reading feature.

    Hi Jan.

That was just pointed out to me by someone else. Awesome. That is very good news. I believe as time goes on this kind of option of giving costumers small updates and whatever else is offered via SW updates makes owners feel much happier about there purchase and that there HVX200 has room to improve possible issues and grow as well.

    BTW,

Jan did you see the “singer ” footage posted? That was quite nice. Very rich in colors.

    Jan,

[Jan Crittenden Livingston] “you could have taken a few minutes to read it. Take a look at page 125.”

It’s unlikely that Michael is quite that fast a reader. (g) To get to p. 125 in a tech manual would take me a few hours if not more.

Ok, we know that it is possible, but will it happen?
When is the first firmware update due?
