Survey: Any hardware jog/shuttle users? (Contour/Avid/Euphonix/Mackie)
There were multiple discussions in the past about Adobe taking away the jog/shuttle controls in CS6. I personally agree that the on-screen controls were cumbersome and unneeded, but today I was doing sound editing and was sorely in need of better transport controls than the available keystrokes. I grabbed my old Contour ShuttleXpress, and was disappointed to see how choppy it felt. Worse, in audio-unit mode (where it’s most needed) two spins of the wheel would leave you waiting for 3 seconds while Premiere fulfills all these “right arrow” keystrokes. I don’t have CS5 around, but I believe that the GUI jog/shuttle was much smoother than any experience you can get from CC these days.
So, before I start any discussion or feature request I wanted to see how many people use any of the available hardware transport control panels:
1. If you use a Contour Shuttle or a Bella keyboard, how is the jog/shuttle responsiveness? Are you happy with it?
2. If you use Avid/Euphonix Artist Transport or Mackie MCU, does the jog/shuttle work? Can you tell if it feels like a series of keystrokes, or fluid vari-speed control? Are you happy with it?
