  • Surround Sound Setting?

    Hi,
    I have Sony Vegas pro 9 in which I am setting up my preferences under the “Audio Device” tab. I do not have a sound card, but I would like to set up my audio in a 5.1 surround sound fashion. My choices are;
    1) Microsoft Sound Mapper
    2) Direct Sound Surround Mapper
    3) Windows Classic Wave Driver with two options from the drop down list;
    a) Speakers (High definition audio)
    b) Digital Audio (S/PDIF High definition audio)

    Could you please advise me which one of these options would suit me best. Your help would be most appreciated. Thanks, Ray

    For using the surround sound from the chip on your motherboard, I would use the Direct Sound Surround Mapper (assuming your motherboard supports surround sounds).

    Hi John,
    Yes, my Intel motherboard DX48BT2 supports Dolby surround sound w/ 7.1 capabilities. I’ll go ahead and use the Direct Sound Surround Mapper. As always, thank you for all your expertise and help, Ray
