Hey, I was just wondering if it was possible to edit for Surround Sound in Avid Xpress HD, I thought I read it was possible, but I can’t quite figure it out. Any knowledge would be appreciated!

But, yet, Avid Liquid will do surround sound.

I, for one, would love to have this option in Xpress Pro and Media Composer products.

How about others? Would this be a good feature to have for your productions? Would you pay extra for it? Or would you never use this feature?

    Regards,

I don’t think Avid has owned Liquid long enough to get those features ported over to the Xpress and MC lines, but I’m purely guessing.

I suspect users at the Xpress Pro (and especially Media Composer) level will generally have a separate workflow for Surround Sound. That’s just a guess. The more specialized multimedia software becomes, the narrower the focus of its features. Avid already has a somewhat awkward audio workflow; I sweeten in Audition. I would prefer they improved what they have before dabbling in Surround Sound.
