Does any one know why Sony dvda 4.5d lacks support for so many drives.
I thought it was just me but the more people I talk to the more I see this problem.
People having to buy Nero or ? just to be able to burn projects as dvda won’t handle the drive.

Forget getting any help or info from Sony, not gonna get it.
Just wish they would publish a list of drives they do support so we don’t have to ask dumb questionsor buy 2 or 3 and hope.

Can prepare in dvda ok and burn with Nero ok but that was not the original idea behind buying vegas 9 plat with dvda 4.5d

It would be very helpful if you could just mention which drives are not recognized by DVDA…

I’ve never used DVDA to burn my completed DVDs.
I had RecordNow from my CD burning days and use that instead.
With periodic software updates, it’s never been a problem.

For what it’s worth, I’m on my second DVD burner, and haven’t had a problem sine DVD Architect 1.0 (am now on DVD Architect Pro 5.0 and have used every version in between except 4.0). When I did have a problem, it was with a particular type and brand of media — different media worked fine.

The first one was a samsung sh-s203n and the second was an asus drw-20b1lt.

I got a sata recommendation from the site earlier, pioneer drw-213np.
Perhaps I will try to find one and give it a try.
Theo, can you recommend one with sata interface that works.
I really enjoy dvda and it’s very frustrating not to be able to use it to its fullest.
I understand Sony’s not being able to cover every new unit that comes along instantly however.

Why is that exactly? I hear many say they use dvda to prepare and something else to do the burn.
If one can burn with dvda, is it just as good as any other software, basically?

Can you recommend a drive that one might look at to use with dvda, that is sata interface and proven to work with the software?
    thanks

Ed, DVDA probably is just as good.
I just got into the habit of doing it that way a long time ago and continue to do it.
    Old habits die hard 🙂
