  • Supported Avid HD formats for import?

I primarily work with DVCPRO HD 720p/23.976 footage in the Avid. It is digitized from tape – not ingested from P2 cards. When I try to export an AAF file from Avid and import it into Premiere Pro CS5 the audio comes through but the video give this error: “The file has an unsupported compression type.”

I’ve tried transcoding into everything under the sun and nothing will display in Premiere. The only thing I can get into Premiere is standard DV footage.

Adobe’s list of supported Premiere video formats includes both DVCPRO HD and Avid MXF Movie (which I interpret to mean any flavor of DNxHD or even 1:1 MXF).

Does anyone have a workflow for moving HD material between Avid and Premiere? I’d greatly appreciate an light that can be shed on this issue.

    Thanks,
    -Brian
