Thanks, I haven’t tried After Effects yet.

What codec did you capture to, what codec is your timeline?

[Mike Kahn] “Thanks, I haven’t tried After Effects yet.”

That will get clipped too due to YUV to RGB.

ah, that’s right. All those effects programs will clip because of YUV to RGB conversion!

Capture the HDCAM-SR as 10bit-RGB versus 10bit? then no YUV to RGB problems.

I was thinking that too, but is it dual or single link?

[Mike Kahn] “Using the FCP bars doesn’t work because it doesn’t have blacks that go below 0.”

    Pluge does.

I captured 10-bit uncompressed and my sequence is 10bit uncompressed. I used the 10 bit uncompressed easy set up.

Sorry, you were right. Exporting a self contained quicktime does not change the levels. So now I have an uncompressed 10 bit, self contained file. Any way to make this into an Avid usable file as well without clipping the blacks?

Great question and one that I can’t answer as I don’t have Avid hardware. You can download Avid codecs, then I’d take the self contained to compressor and make an avid movie. Make sure to choose full range and not SMPTE.
