    .mov can mean anything. Quicktime is a wrapper, inside could be different codecs.

    Mpeg 4 will make you have to add a conversion step to edit in FCP, AFAIK. I think you should ask for it in another codec. Pro-res or DVC Pro HD may be overkill for home movie super-8, but you will get the max quality the transfer process can give you.
