Posted by Oliver Peters on January 25, 2018 at 3:06 pmAny read yet on number of Sundance films cut on FCPX vs Premiere Pro vs Media Composer? Or maybe even Resolve?

January 25, 2018 at 5:51 pmI guess my question, to start the debate, is why that matters? If a shi**y film is cut on X, is there somehow a reflection on the product? That’s what cracks me up about Avid’s marketing: “All the Academy Award films were cut on Avid”. What about the crappy films? All on Premiere?
And what would a number at Sundance reflect on the marketplace?
There ya go, red meat in the water! ????
But if I had to bet, it would be:
Premiere
Media Composer
FCPX

It matters because it feeds the aspirational marketing engine, which in turn feeds sales.

January 25, 2018 at 6:34 pmCaught up with Sven Pape (this Guy Edits) at the LA thing last night. He’s got a FCP X piece in Sundance. Know nothing beyond that.

“Not sure that has worked too well for Avid (I have stock). BUT, if you are in that niche, it might be of interest.

January 25, 2018 at 9:11 pmHEY! I worked with that Sean Baker guy, who shot the film on an iPhone. Well, I worked with him BEFORE he did that…on a show on MTV called WARREN THE APE. Cut with FCP, graded with COLOR. Oh so loooooong ago.
