Any suggestions on how to lessen the video noise of this 1980 film transfer from within FCP?

    Reshoot? Ha!

Video Purifier from innobits has received pretty good reviews.

Thanks guys! I need to upgrade my OS before trying Video Purifier so for the time being tried and bought Neat. Literally eye popping and mind blowing results! The cost was justified for the job at hand. I plan on looking at both plug-ins more carefully since I have various cinema transfers in the same condition. A big thank you to the COW!

Just as a follow up – I still need to upgrade to Leopard but needed to clean up that noisy film transfer urgently. I ended up purchasing the pro version of Neat (the home version doesn’t render 10 bit images). I have been pleased with the results. It is simple yet serious software. The instructions are very clear and thorough. Thanks again for the heads up.

With all my respects, Purifier is pure crap and should be banned his selling.
Its works in 8b RGB without room for “Super Whites”, so all your Highlights will be clipped at 100%.
Its offers as well a very poor downscaling
Don’t waist your money and buy NeatVideo. Apply it in a 10b sequence and render in “High Precision”.
Don’t use it with the default setting. Keeping a bit of noise is OK.
    Cheers,
    rafael
