All the above agreed to -;)

I’m on a budget, too and have bothe the Cinemadisplay/Decklink/HD-Link solution and the panny HD 17″.

I Bought the Panny for two reasons:

    1. Shooting HD with the HVX without some sort of external HD monitoring seems rather risky, as you cannot correctly determine focus from the LCD flipout or viewfinder (Even with focus assist and the edge-enhancement turned on).

    2. I was never happy with the Decklink solution for monitoring.

So even though I don’t get pixel-accurate monitoring in 1080 on the panny, I much prefer working on it colorwise than the HD-Link.

I’ll keep the box to have the pixel-option ready when needed, though.

Normaly I would agree but monitors were one of the things I was lookign at when I was at NAB. I was supprised since I own a Sony but I would have to say the JVC impressed me more then the Sony did on HD stuff. My next CRT will be the JVC, which will be my first JVC product.

Even Panny had their flat screens up against the Sony flats and the pannys won hands down with all the test they were performing. I starting to think Sony isn’t the company that it use to be and I have always bought Sony from cameras to monitors.

Everyone has their own flavor but before buying something this expensive check them out.
