Suggestions for Quick(ish) Rotoscoping
I am trying to mask someone from the foreground sitting in front of an iMac (iMac takes up most of the frame while subject is frame right partially covering screen) so I can put something on the iMac screen. Is the Track Points behavior the most capable way of tracking a shape mask? It does’t seem like tracking points is the same as tracking a shape over time. I’ve been looking into using DaVinci’s Fusion for this as well as CoreMelt Slice X, but am trying to see if there’s a way in Motion to do this effectively.

You’ll likely have to keyframe the mask points and/or mask position. You can technically track the mask but likely easier to just keyframe.

Thanks Mark. I converted everything to 3D and although it worked in Motion, the published Z parameter had no effect in FCP X.

Assuming we’re talking about the issue from the other thread, the 3D + Z coordinates should definitely work, yes. Just tried it. Works as expected. You must be missing something.
