I’m an experienced used of NLE however, I’m a brand new user of Final Cut Pro. I’ve been attempting to output my finished timeline, but everytime I try to edit to tape, I get a compression error message. I’ve been working on this all day and I’m stumped. I’m trying to output to a digital betacam deck via SDI (Kona 2 Board). OK now, ego aside, what am I missing? I’ve tried 8 Bit uncompressed and DVCPRO50 and every seemingly possible combination and now I’m just confused and tired.
    Cheers.

    Try this:

#18 Edit to Tape “Incompatible Compression Settings”

    Shane’s Stock Answer #18

To Edit to Tape you either need to have your sequence loaded in the VIEWER, or simply drag it from the BROWSER onto the Edit to Tape window and choose Assemble Edit or Insert Edit.

For both methods, the tape needs to be black and coded and have TC already on it. And you need to mark and IN point in the ETT window.

    Thanks Shane,
Something so simple solved the problem. Now what can you say about general errors while exporting AIF audio files?
    Cheers,

How are you attempting to export? Tell me the steps you use…

I’ve assigned each track it’s own number and am trying to export aif files. I establish my in and out and go to file export option, name the rfile and hit return. A dialoge box comes up and the first track exports OK. The second track also seems to export but just as it’s going to the next track I get a General Error message. I’ve tried isolating tracks, but it always seems to want to export all the tracks. I’ve tried shift drive destinations, but the results are the same. Any ideas.
