  • Suddenly lost keyboard shortcuts…

Hi I’ve just learned to use keyboard shortcuts and have been all excited putting in some serious hours.

All of a sudden, I’ve lost the ability to use some of the shortcuts. For instance when I mark a clip in the timeline with I and O.. I can no longer ‘SHIFT+DELETE’… when I do, it just clears the marks. It does not delete.

This is the strangest thing because it only happens on one project. I thought I was pressing the wrong keys but I opened up another project and the shortcuts work fine.

On this ‘affected’ project I can’t even do the delete from the menu. The only way to do it now is to drag the clip and shorten it from the edge. Or razor blade and delete the subclip.

    Any help please?

Try trashing your preference file for FCP…

In addition to Jerry’s advice, save the project as a new name or even open a New Project and drag all the elements from the original to the new one. It’s possible your project got corrupted.

Thanks to both of you guys.

I wasn’t sure about finding the prefs files so I tried Walter’s suggestion – creating a new project and coying everything over.

    Got my shortcuts back!

Such a simple solution. Thanks again!

Update: I found the preference files. Deleted them. And nothing has changed. The original project still has that problem/bug. Can’t Ripple Delete.

    Strange!!

Anyway, I have the new project which seems fine so I’m ok.
