sudden problem…somewhat off topic but now camcorder not recognized by Win XP!
Posted by Stan Weiss on October 9, 2005 at 8:59 pmI would typically plug my sony trv 900 into the firewire port of my win xp Sp2 system and it would be recognized and then i could go into premiere and use the camcorder..that was until now….
seems that when i plug my camcorder in now it goes totally unrecognized..any ideas…thanks

October 10, 2005 at 1:59 amDo you plug/unplug the FW cable while the camera is on often?
There’s a thread on the HDV forum that won’t make you happy, but may explain it. It turns out that iLink and FW have some interesting relationship issues.
I know it surprised me…

October 10, 2005 at 2:16 amlooks like the firewire port on the camera is burned out…bad news for me…seems like sony should tell people about this possibility and to warn people to only plug in when it is off…
got to find a new york repair shop now!
thanks for the heads up -

October 10, 2005 at 3:09 pmWow! Certainly not good news. Although, this is not unique to the HDV cameras only. It has happened way too many times with standard DV cameras as well.
