Such a weird glitch, but BIG impact on editing ☹ Any insight??
I recently tried updating to Mojave, but got stuck for hours and couldn’t get out of it, even after restarting. Last resort had to restore a time machine backup from the previous day.
Everything looked fine, but the first thing I opened was FCPX and I noticed something weird. In the viewfinder and while scrubbing, all my footage looked dark– blacks crushed, highlights blown out. But if I just looked at the rows of files without scrubbing, they looked fine.
This is NOT what the original file looks like, and when I export from FCPX, it looks normal too. But all my libraries and projects look like this now, which is making color correcting impossible since I don’t know what it actually looks like until I export it.
I did some googling and even came across some old old threads on this forum, found that some people on FCP 7 had this issue but no real solutions posted. There were a few saying fixing the gamma correction in the playback settings worked, but I’m not seeing that option in FCPX playback settings.
Also, I completely deleted & reinstalled just in case it was a time machine issue– same issue happening.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Nothing else on my screen or other apps are discolored, so I don’t think it’s my actual iMac display settings (tried that anyway).
