  • Successful workflow with HVX200 and FS100

I took delivery of the FS100 this week, and we immediately put it into our workflow. We have been recording all our material directly to the FS100 and then using that to connect to our FCP systems. We have found this to be successful, with no missing clips, or any corruption.

    We are shooting in 1080i.

I would encourage anyone working with this camera to add the FS100. I think it represents the best workflow, unless you have unlimited funds, and can afford lots of cards, and card readers.

Interestingly enough, I have asked a local dealer to quote me a second camera and a card reader. Instead of the 5 slot reader, he quoted the P2Store. I guess that was because it sells for several hundred less than the Panasonic card reader.

    Cheers

It will be good to hear from you from time to time to see if this is still true after several months of use…

I just got my FS-100 today and read the instructions, but I can’t get it to work.
    Could you share your settings?

I have a 4GB P2 card install inside also that I plan on using when my Glidecam comes in. I know that it should be simple setting that I have to fix, but my brain is fried already.

    Thanks

I’ll need more information about where your problem is. Is it capturing, or outputting, etc.

I got a call from Phil at Focus and got it to work.
My problem was that I had a tape in the camera. Most of what I shoot is at 720p, but I like to keek a tape in just in case I have to use it.

I was on a job last night: four cameras and four Firestores. A defective(?) battery sheared the contacts off of , first, one then, before we realised it was the battery, another Firestore. Both units now require external power.

You mean there is a Tape Drive in this Too?

    Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

It’s a great HD and DVCPRO 50 camera, so I have not even pushed the eject button.

    Cheers
