  Successful difference key?

  I have a project coming up where I know I will be replacing a lot of signage in a busy airport.
  We can not stop travelers from their normal paths, nor can we put up green/blue over the existing signage to pull a key.
  I’m hoping to avoid tons of rotoscoping if at all possible. If I can get a clean background plate, is there any chance of pulling a successful difference key? The few times I have tried it I was not impressed. Other alternatives?
