Subtitles in Premiere Pro
I know that quite a few people have asked this and there have been numerous posts and tutorials regarding, but I still haven’t come to a workable solution.
I want to create subtitles for my feature film, however, as I am not the finishing house, just the offline editor, there is no way to get the subtitles to online edit. For the rest of the feature an XML goes to grade and an OMF or AAF to sound, but even with the new updated graphics titles in Premiere 2017.1, graphic titles don’t translate in XML files.
I also need to get the subtitles into Encore for DVD Authoring and I need to be able to show the subtitles in offline viewings.
Any help would be appreciated.

I use Andreas Kiel’s excellent psTitles plug-in for this. It creates editable TIFFs so your post house will have no problem, nor will you.

My Subbits subtitler can do this.
It can generate editable PNG files that you can alter in Premiere.
It’s lighting fast as you don’t have to worry about layout. Just text and linebreaks.
(Where settting the linebreak is a breeze.)Getting back for another format is as simple as an XML import.
Subbits will find the PNG files and TC info, and will extract the title text from them so you can re-purpose your work.See a video demo here:
