    Hi,

I’m editing a video for the web consisting of an Italian man speaking English with a harsh accent, so I will need to add subtitles.

Is there an easier/faster way of creating subtitles than creating a new text slate for each sentence fragment? I don’t mind doing it that way, but who wouldn’t want an easier way? It’s so tedious

    Thanks

    Rob,

There’s a free plugin called “Edit B Subtitle” which works really well. I forget where I got it though, so do a Google.

    Have a wonderful day.

Well, the Edit ‘B text plugin is just the start.
(Edit ‘B is my editing company, but the software is another department, called VideoToolShed)

If you want to do a bit of serious subtitling, you need Subbits:
(the text plugin is part of the package)

    https://www.videotoolshed.com/?page=products&pID=12

If it is for the web, best to output XML and use H264 with the JW player. (Subbits can output the correct XML)

The JW player has a very simple implementation. For a preview on how subs can look:

(make sure you put it fullscreen)
