  • Subtitles add to project file?

Posted by Slingblade on July 20, 2006 at 8:14 pm

If I have a project that is 4 GB (encoded video+audio+menus), and then have another 2 GB worth of subtitle TIF files (that I pull in via an images script), does that mean my finished project will weigh 6 GB, and therefore be too large for a DVD-5?

I keep getting these weird “Out of Memory” error messages whenever I try to burn…

No, subtitles are written to DVD as RLE bitmaps, and add a negligible amount of file space to the DVD.

No, like Joe already said, it’s completely unimportant. Subtitles are stored as 4bit RLE encoded files which even on a 3 hour movie with multiple subtitles usually makes no more than 20 or 30 MB. See my other post for a possible answer to your problem.
