Gentleman,

Nice thread.

As a programmer, I would like to be able to have the TEXT / Translations in a separate text file / xml file and have Sony Vegas Text Media element reference the text here.

This way you could change the Text file ( Eng, Span, etc ) with each language you want to use.

Re the Windows Media Player in the HTML, will that work on the MAC and other browsers ?

The WMP will be a downloadable plugin to be installed ?

Paul (and James too), check out Subtitle Workshop.
I just found out about it on another Vegas forum, downloaded it (it’s FREE!!!) and it looks like a great tool.
One note of caution is that DVDA understand subtitles made for Adobe Encore so use that preset when making the subtitles.
From that same thread, if you need a more commercial tool then check out Belle Nuit ($150.00 and up).

ok well this isnt related to this thread, but im sure u can help me Mike.

I haven’t rendered in ages and seem to have forgotten something simple! When I render my edited .veg file, it only takes a few seconds and then mp4 that comes out is only a few 100 kbs and doesnt play. the .veg file itself is only a few 100 kbs too. So how do I render the edited main file that i saved as a .veg.?dope this is amateur stuff im sorry…

Thanks for your help Mike, I will check out those programs, cause manually doing it on vegas is quite laborious! i tried to follow most of your settings u recommended,but i had problems putting in the black outline and changing the resolution.oh well i will tinker around with it.

James, congratulations on your efforts as I found the video to be very informative.
My wife has been to South Korea a few times on business and has several friends there so she is well aware of the political situation.
Congratulations to the gentleman who consented to being interviewed.
His sincerity as well as his pain came across.

One thing I did notice that, to me anyway, stands out as a major error, is that there are several times that the text goes to the extreme left and right edges of the video screen.
If you have any plans of releasing this on DVD for TV playback, you’ll need to ensure that all your titles stay with in the safe title area.

I did notice a few grammatical and spelling errors but am not sure if you want me to point them out or not.
Let me know and I’ll be glad to post my list.

As far as the text size, colours and borders are concerned, here are a few screenshots that should be self-explanatory.

Yeah I will clean up those errors sooner or later, I noticed the grammatical and spelling errors only after I uploaded them, and I was already late so the thought of re-rendering and uploading again wasnt so appealing…but I will get round to it.Thanks for the screen shots too, I will try and use those setting s when I edit them again.

James, I understand completely.
That’s why I NEVER check my own work for spelling and grammar errors as I’ve missed too many of them over the years.

BTW, in case you missed it, there’s a bad edit at 3:11 of the 2nd segment.
