Subtitle nightmare on FCP
Hi all,
I am having a real mind-puzzle on this documentary project.
Originally we used DH-subtitles v1. We were very happy with them until we found out that we need to change the size, color and contour of ALL subtitles, and also add a box in order to meet the requirements of a broadcaster.
Unfortunately it is not possible to modify DH_subtitles en masse, and I really don’t want to have to modify the 1000+ subtitles manually.
If anyone has a solution, I’d be very very grateful. I vaguely understood that it might be possible to transfer the subtitles to a text file with Title Exchange Pro, then feed them back into FCP using new settings. Does anyone have any insights? Many thanks in advance.Frederic

Title Exchange Pro or Traffic might do what you want.
Or you could try to hack it yourself using xml export & import. You would open up the xml in TextEdit and use find/replace to change the attributes that you want. Do a search here for “xml” and you’ll probably find more detail.

I already answered Frederic on mail he directly sent to me.
So just for the records.TitleExchange allows to do this.
Create a generator in a FCP sequence with the new settings and export as XML. In TEP import that XML as template.
Then convert the subtitle XML using an XML to XML conversion.Spherico
