    Hi Cowsters
    I’m using 4d v9.6 and i’m trying to add subsurface scattering but i can’t find it anywhere. i’ve looked for it under effects but its nowhere to be seen. is it called something else in 9.6 or is it found somewhere else?

    Use the ChanLum shader. It’s a simplified SSS shader. You can get another one with the Advanced Render module that is more sophisticated. There’s also Lumen from 3D Attack and I’m sure in finalRender you can also find this functionality.

    SubSurface Scattering needs the Advanced Renderer.
    If you don’t own that module there are some other plugin shader available that do pretty much the same.
    Beside the ones already mentioned there is also Translucent Pro and Vreel Skin:
