  • Substituting a 3D solid layer from a AFX comp with a video in Premiere

Posted by Emil Stefanow on August 23, 2018 at 1:05 pm

    Hi folks!

My first question is quite tricky and I have tried everything possible but no success so far.
    Here’s the issue.

I have a 3D comp in After Effects CC2018 with a camera and a 3D solid layer that’s flying around (1920×1080, as a place holder).
I have imported the 3D comp in Adobe Premiere Pro CC2018 and would like to substitute the 3D solid layer with a video footage from Premiere Pro (I guess from a specified video track).

For now several ideas came to my mind as a solution (exporting the 3D Comp as a 2D corner pin data but how do I get it into Premiere)… So far no real solution. The question is: how do I get the link between AFX and Premiere with this one?

Any ideas? I would be super thankful for awesome suggestions!

    Best regards
    Emil

Replace the 3D solid in After Effects with your footage of choice.

    Hi Kalleheikki,

Thank you for the answer! ☺

How do I replace a AFX Solid with a footage in Premiere (not FROM Premiere but IN Premiere)?
    Thank you!

Why do you want to do it in Premiere?

The customer doesn’t have After Effects and I would like to deliver a kind of a template where he can just substitute the footage. Also possible with Essential Graphics?

    Thank you!!!

Ok, this would then be a question for the Premiere forum.

I kinda suspect you will have to manually animate using Premiere corner pin to try and match the AE render.

    Thank you Kalleheikki,

    That’s my suspicion, too. Unfortunatelly.
I don’t think it’s possible to “transfer” the corner pin data from AFX into AE directly, or? That would be a big help.

    Thank you Dave.

Unfortunatelly the customer doesn’t have any AFX knowledge (and the AFX setup isn’t that easy for a newbie.
So I guess we stick to the AFX solution and deliver a final video. :/

    Best regards
