subpixel moving ?
Posted by Gil Rokplo on June 16, 2006 at 6:39 amHi everybody !
I need to do some precise moving of layers, and i know after effects manages subpixel moving. But how can i access myself to subpixel moving ? Is there a keyboard combinaison to move a layer 1/2 pixel or 1/10 pixel right, up, left and down ?
Thanx for your help !!!

but in 100% view, is there a key combination to do subpixel moving (just like shift+arrow moves 10 pixels, another combination could move 1/10 pixel ?)

March 22, 2011 at 12:08 pm5 years later… but I needed the answer and so here it is. Running CS5, my objective was to be able to make precise subpixel adjustments while staying at a reasonable zoom, 200% to 400%. There’s no keyboard shortcut for sub pixel at 100% zoom, only at greater magnification do the arrow keys become more precise – 200% = ,5 pixles, 400% = .2 pixles and so on. So the workaround is pretty simple. If your comp window is at 200% or whatever, open a new comp window, detach it and zoom it in to whatever suppixel increment is needed. When the new comp window is active, the arrow keys will make subpixel adjustments and both comp windows will update. I found it helpful to drag the new comp window small and move it away from my work area so it wouldn’t be distracting.

I like your solution, but excuse my ignorance. How do I open another comp window of the same comp? I am using AE CS4. Thanks for the update!

September 17, 2015 at 1:22 amYou can move position by 0.1px increments by revealing the layers position value (P), highlighting the X Y or Z value and holding ctrl while hitting up or down on the keyboard.
