subdividing object

Functions/Subdivide or are you talking about something more complex?

I have a custome shape that only has one face. I need to subdivide it were all the faces created by the subdivide are uniform, all the same size

Select the edges, run Structure>Edit Spline>Edge to spline. Put the spline in an extrude nurbs set to zero depth and set the caps to quadrangles>regular grid.
