sub clips
I need to reduce the size of some clips so I put them in the trimmer and make a sub clip. The clip then shows up in the “project media”. Fine so far. Now I click on “Explore containing folder” and it’s not there. It doesn’t show up in either Vegas explorer or Windows explorer.
I have a clip named gator.m2t. The subclip names it gator.m2t-subclip1
Where the heck is it?

A subclip is only a pointer (i.e. a virtual clip) that links to the trimmed clip.
Therefore the only place it will show up is in the Vegas project where it originated.
You’ll have to render it to the desired format if you want a “hard copy” of it. -

Sure with there were an easier way to render clips which I would like shortened to save space. -
Roger,,You can use save-as and check copy-media and it will trip your original files to save with the .veg
I use this all the time for archiving.
I would clear out any unused event from the project media before saving.

Hi Jeff,
The only files it will trim to size are the old .avi files. It doesn’t do a thing to m2t or m2ts files. They remain has huge as ever even if the clip is only a second long.
