Stuttery Playback in Premiere, but not on external monitor

September 10, 2011 at 12:19 amOK, running CS5.5, AJA Kona 3. Installed the drivers, things are running fine in some ways, not in others. I get nice smooth playback on my external monitor, but playback is stuttery in the PREVIEW and PROGRAM monitor in PPro. Even if I set playback to 1/2 or 1/4 quality. VERY stuttery. Like it is dropping a lot of frames.
If I turn off external monitoring via AJA…switch the player settings to ADOBE…playback is smooth.
So I can’t have it smooth on both? I can in FCP and Avid…but not Premiere Pro?
And another thing..audio is low in the PREVIEW window, but LOUDER in the Program/Timeline. Why is that?
Oh, ProRes files as masters.

September 10, 2011 at 12:46 amAh…just spoke with Walter Biscardi, and it’s because we are running QUAD core machines, not 8 core. That’s why we are stuttering.
But, I still would like to know why the audio is lower in the source monitor, but louder in the timeline/program monitor?

September 10, 2011 at 4:16 pmHi Shane,
As far as audio gain goes, there must be something different about the tracks in your timeline.
Are these just stereo clips, or dual mono? Did you may any changes in the audio channel mapping?
Also take a look at the mixer panel.

September 10, 2011 at 6:01 pmAll tracks are mono. The clips I am using are all mono (show with 12 splits).
